Re: Free upgrade to Windows 7 with qualifying computer purchase

I'm very disappointed that I paid for a new computer and home software, and now 5 months later, I must pay again to upgrade.

Re: Free upgrade to Windows 7 with qualifying computer purchase

Bought  a ASUS a couple weeks ago. Did everything they wanted emailed it to asusauto@mentormediacorp.comrecived a confirmation email and that was it. Seems that they are in Taiwan somewhere. I also preorder it for my other computers in my house; I have no idea of the status of what is what. Best Buy is about to receive a slightly used but new laptop back.

I just don’t get it, more companies seem to take advantage of their customers. So I’m tired of send emails that don’t get any answers about the upgrade. And sitting waiting on some type of update for my other upgrade order.  So I’ll let my wallet do the talking….

Re: Free upgrade to Windows 7 with qualifying computer purchase

The whole idea of FREE Upgrade has been totally distorted by Best Buy.  There is nothing Free, except the brochure.  I bought 3 laptops for International students and they were promised, along with myself to receive the free upgrade. This promise was made by more than one employee at Best Buy.  I were told to bring in the receipt and they would give me the soft ware and I would send it to Moldova.  After the purchases, it appears that Best Buy WILL  charge $$ to install, but you can have the software free... Pretty funny Best Buy!!! I am not laughing!

I hope there is a class action suit for your deceptive advertising practices.  I am pretty intelligent, an aware consumer and I have the brochure right in front of me.  I am amazed that you are trying this tactic!

You won't get your FREE disc unless you PAY Best Buy to install it!

I think Pamgreg got confused on the options. Your options are With a qualifying PC you may go to the manfacture and order your upgrade disc and do the upgrade yourself or take it to a PC shop like Geek Squad. Or option 2 is to take your computer to the Geek Squad and for 39.99 they will install windows 7 and give you the disc after the service has been performed. With Option 2 you will only receive the disc after paying the 39.99 installation fee, With option 1 you get the disc mailed to you for free.

Re: Free upgrade to Windows 7 with qualifying computer purchase

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 notebook from best buy at the very end of June. I was told when I bought it that I would get a free upgrade to windows 7 when it comes out. Yesterday I went to the Dell website to see if my computer was elgible for as free upgrade and it said that it could not find my computer in the data base. It said to have your receipt at hand and to call them, but I do not have it. Can I get a free upgrade or not?
