I recently purchased the HP 9150 AMD Phenom. It was working fine. About a week after I got it, I went to bed, leaving it on as usual. The next morning, the screen was black with the phrase "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". I don't believe I have a system disk. Hard drive is listed first in BIOS and everything seems to be connected inside and out.
Any advice?
Thank you!

Welcome samjc2006!
Does the computer list some recovery option while starting up at all? If you computer did not come with recovery disks then I would check with HP to see if they can send them to you. It sounds like maybe your MBR (Master Boot Record) was corrupted some how. The Windows Vista disk (recovery disk) has a repair MBR option that should fix this. Lately, the recovery disks are actually a partition on your hard disk drive. But, some times you can not access it depending on what the problem is. If you get the recovery disks from HP and then boot off the disk it should be able to repair the problem.
Hope this helps!

Hi samjc2006!
In addition to what Jacob-BBY said, you might want to have the Hard Drive examined. I hope it turns out your hard drive is fine, but the nature of hard drives is that they can fail either within the first few months from manufacturing or years later from usage. Ask your local Geek Squad® Agent for help with diagnostics to determine if your issue is software or hardware related.
Did you know that in some areas you can now go online to reserve a specific drop off and/or pick up time for your electronic device being serviced? A Geek Squad® Agent can be ready to help you the moment you arrive. Check availability in your area using our store locator.
