Do you know how old the battery is? Typically if it is getting around two years old the batteries are inconsistent and may not even hold a charge at all. As an ultra mobile person, I have experienced this multiple times over the years.
If you are within your warranty you could contact Dell and request a part dispatch for the battery. They will do this free of charge as long as it is within warranty, which is usually one year with Dell.
