I found a laptop on your site. Toshiba A505-S6005. According to the site it is not available in my state or the states surrounding my area. I called Best Buy to see if there was anything they could do, or if they could locate the computer in another state. They told me that this particual computer is only available in one store in NY. I tried locating it in NY but had no luck. I do not understand how you can offer a computer online if it is only available in 1 store out of the entire US. I asked them if they could assist me in getting it to DE and they said no. I mentioned to them how I could not believe with how big of a corporation they are, they are not able to assist with this. The lady from 1-888-Best Buy then proceeded to tell me that she is of a 3rd party affiliate and had no control over the situation. I asked her if I could speak with someone who possibly could assist me and she stated that since they (888-Best Buy the number listed for the corporate office) are in fact a 3rd party affiliate and not the corporate office, there was nothing anyone could do.
I am very dissapointed with the fact that no one can assist me in how I can purchase this computer. I was told that the computer may become availble in the near future, or Best Buy has the right to remove it all together. I asked if there was anyway I could secure the price for x amount of days and I was told no, becuase 888-Best Buy has no control over pricing and that Best Buy has the right to change pricing daily.
Here I did through research on a computer for a couple of hours. Was very excited over how good of a deal it was, to come and find out that I basically just wasted my entire Friday night on nothing but disappointment.

Products often remain online when there is inventory in the store, so that those researching the item have a chance to review it online before deciding on the purchase. There is currently no blocking by location, etc, because someone out of state may be looking at it for someone in that state/area.
Or it may just be an inventory error. That happens sometimes - when a store incorrectly reports having a stock of something they don't actually have. To err is human, to really mess up requires a computer - as you may know!
As for if this item will come back in stock, there is rarely an answer because it's not given to Best Buy employees - for various reasons. Negotiations with the manufacturer (in progress) are one, competition, or just plain uncertainty if the manufacturer is even going to be able to supply more. Essentially, if Best Buy knew and was prepared to *say* they knew to the general public, there would be a 'back ordered' or 'coming soon' tag on it.
Remember in this day and age of technology and databasing, it is my *opinion* that Best Buy, like many retailers, finds the best policy is keeping it's mouth shut unless it's 100% certain about some thing.

Remember the feedback on the bottom of the store receipts or the ability to give it? Many people do this and the manager and supervisors read it all and stock products based on what the customer wants or supply and demand.

The rules are the rules, and they cannot bend them. If it is not in your store, move on and find something comparable.
Like the others said, its probably discontinued.

I understand rules are rules. But if an item is not offered and/or is discontinued don't put it on the site for sale. I even offered to pay all shipping costs. They stated it was available in 1 store in NY. I checked all around NY and no one had it in stock that I could find Not to mention who ever I spoke with at 1-888-BEST-BUY (the number that was verified by my local best buy being the corporate nubmer) stated that she worked with an outsourced company and was not an employee of Best Buy, nor could she assist me in telling me how to contact a person with Best Buy directly to see if there was something that could be arranged. You can not tell me that an item can not be sent back to the warehouse and sent to another store. I know this for a fact because I ordered a set of speakers in the store. They usually ship directly from the manufacter to Best Buy, but the manufacter was out of stock and would not have them in for several weeks, so they had another store ship a set to the warehouse then to my store.
All in all I did move on and found something comparable. Went ahead and ordered it. Two days later I find out it is on back order. Received an email last Thursday telling me it was shipped. Called customer service today to find out when it will be arriving, and they said according to their records my computer is still at the warehouse and it is getting ready to ship. And accoring to my account it states it is being fulfilled.
I do not know what is going on with Best Buy online and customer service, but they need to get thier wires straight. I am very displeased and will not be using their services online again. This is not the first time we have had issues purchasing online thru them but it will be the last.
