I just bought a new Gateway desktop computer, DX4831-01e and understand computers no longer come with restore software. I know I could have the Geek squad create restore discs for me but I believe it's something I should be able to do myself if someone could tell me what to do.
I haven't turned on the computer yet because I want to be sure I have a way of bringing everything back to factory settings before I actually use it since I tend to like to wipe my computers out now and then to clean out unwanted files.
Do I need restore discs to do this or should there be a restore partition on the hard drive?

Some computers come with a restore partition. Otherwise, there should be a utility to create the discs.

I should have opened the box before posting a question because inside the box was a paper telling me how to create the restore discs. Unfortunately it didn't say it was going to take 3 hours so I may have to leave my computer running when I go to bed.

I guess I miss read the length of time it was suppose to take since disc 1 is already done. I guess it said 3 minutes not 3 hours, lol.
