Core Volatage Question

Hi Everyone,

I have been upgrading my pc alot...i just posted here for a processor related question, the problem now is that my Phenom II X4 820 @2.80GHz is acting weird, the core voltage is main problem...recently my cpu is running hard when i play games like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or any other games...even old games...cpu ranges from 60%~100%....and another weird thing is that the CPU-Z program shows 2.220Voltage...please help me...oh and also if i need a new CPU i can upgrade to new 6 cores or new 4 cores...thank you in advance guys im really hoping to solve this problem...and also i got 3 blue screens due to my video card driver updates...so i had to roll back drivers...but it seems to fix the problem of blue screen...=/

Re: Core Volatage Question

Have you done any overclocking? If so then I would roll your settings back to the defautl and see if that helps.

Re: Core Volatage Question

Either the core voltage is WAY higher than specified or CPU-Z is misdisplaying it.

Are you overclocking?

I never messed with the CPU Frequency and never going to overclock my CPU...also would it make a defference if i bought a new CPU Heatsink and Fan.

Re: Core Volatage Question

If the system is working fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Core Volatage Question

Haha, sorry.. missed the part about high CPU usage....

Unless the CPU itself is the problem, switching to a new CPU won't help. It could be a motherboard problem, as well. It could also be a software issue. Does the system run as expected?

I can't really tell how the system is or should be running..It seems to be running a bit(not much) but a little slower then before, the CPU usage is going crazy while playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Crysis , and even small games..The only thing I am worried about is that it might crash, and temperature goes high up to 57% ..So if a new fan is needed I could get one...Link to a Good CPU Fan

Re: Core Volatage Question

Dude, the CPU usage is supposed to go high in games.  Games use CPU, games are one of the main driving forces for fast processors.  The only problem 60% CPU usage would indicate is that you've got a bottleneck in your system elsewhere other than the CPU.  (Like maybe the video card too slow)

Now if the temperature goes out of specification (temperature in percent?  That doesn't make sense.  57 Celsius?  That isn't too bad, well within spec for most CPUs) that could be a problem.

Does it crash/freeze at all?  If not, stop worrying - the high core voltage in CPU-Z is strange, but might just be a bug in CPU-Z in how it reports the actual core voltage.  (I'm pretty sure the motherboard's regulators can't go that high...)

Re: Core Volatage Question

Yup, Sounds normal to me. If you start having problems, then worry. 57C for a processor is fine.
