Re: Computer crashed... blue screen !!

use your recovery cd and recover your operating system. aka: u'll lose all your files, fresh start.

if you lost your recovery cd, go to manufacture's website order a cd, costs depending on your model

you can try to go to geeksquad and ask them to save your files first. cost about $99.99 for up to 10gb of files and $159.99 for over 10gb.

Re: Computer crashed... blue screen !!

Use the backup disc to clean everything out. Although this will erase everything from your hard drive. Although you really don't need to go to the geek squad to get back all your files... just take out your hard drive and buy an internal/external hard drive converter [able to plug in an internal hard drive and turn it into an external hard drive... should cost maybe $20] and go to a friend's house to transfer all your files to either your friend's computer or another external hard drive. Just make sure you don't kept the virus files. If I were you, I'd only keep important text documents, family pictures, and other personal items... not games, programs, music or any of those because they much contain viruses or be corrupted files.

Another thing you can do is start your computer in safe-mode and install mas.sive amounts of firewalls, anti-virus programs, spyware programs and just slowly clean out your whole computer.

Third option is to roll back your computer to a time before you installed those games. To do this go to start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore.

Re: Computer crashed... blue screen !!

Even though this topic is a few days old I wanted to point out that depending on what virus protection program you use, some games downloaded from the Internet from trusted sites such as PopCap, Iwin , and other places may trigger a false positive detection and will incorrectly quarantine a game resulting in it unplayable. If you wish to resolve such issues, read the instruction manual or documentation of your security software on how to submit a sample for analysis.
