I bout Microsoft Office 2010 Product Key Card yesterday for my new laptop, but today discovered my employer has a license agreement with microsoft that allows employees who use their laptop for work to download a copy of the software.  I haven't used the key card yet.  Can I return it and get a refund?

No. If I remember correctly they say right on the item that it is non refundable for any reason.

Actually, the fine print on the back reads "The PIN inside cannot be replaced or refunded if it has been tampered with or activated." The word "Non-refundable" does not appear anywhere on the Product Key Card or on the receipt. The receipt does state that opened computer software can not be returned for a refund but the Key Card has not been opened. I would hope Best Buy would treat this exactly as they would for unopened software had I purchased the physical discs rather than the key card.

They did not use to be when I worked there and they classed it like they did phone cards and such. From the return policy:
Non refundable items
Pre-paid cards such as music, photo, video or phone cards
Digital content (e.g. music downloads from Napster)

Don't know if it was in their system as digital content or a digital download type service but it used to not even allow it in the computer system. I would just go in and give it a try and the store will tell you whether they will or not.

As long as the serial key hasn't been revealed, I would think it would be returnable..

When I tried to research this subject via google, I ended up at a site that gave me a virus. This was.. a pain.. to remove.

Please use caution when doing research. I was busy doing other things and wasn't paying attention!

As long as the scratchable portion of the card has not been scrated off you should have no problem returning your card.
