Hi guys, I'm a newbie here from the Philippines and I am really looking for my first ever laptop. I'm a computer literate so I know basically about all things to consider here. My problem is that I am torn between a really good SONY VAIO that is for sale for $499 (Blu ray player, 4GB ram, 320 GB HD... BUT Intel Pentium Dual core ONLY...) I haven't even seen what dual core is that... is it a T4300 or what... Apparently Best Buy withholds this information. My other option is the TOSHIBA L505 model, black finish with 4GB ram, 320 HD and an Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo processor with a free printer and case for $499. If you are me... what do you consider a great buy? Can I have the pros and cons of the matter? Thanks in advance...

Go with the Tosh.

Tosh. I have the the 500Gb model and it's excellent in everyway. though the bluray would be nice, the addition of a printer and case sounds more valuable in the long term.

If the clock speeds are the same I'd go for the Blu-Ray.

Everything else seems the same and both companies have a important con. Toshiba's tend to overheat more easily but Sony's are pretty delicate and are expensive to repair. Seeing as both are 4 GB and Dual Core I'd just go with the one with Blu-Ray. That would save you a couple hundred bucks on buying a Blu-Ray player. Also a typical laptop with Blu-Ray usually has better graphics which is another pro.
