ASUS UX31-RSL8 Battery problem purchased in Bestbuy

Hello,

I purchased ASUS UX31-RSL8 last November at Bestbuy and 

a battery problem suddenly appeared yesterday.

It is abrubtly turned off even with the battery life with 70%, so I plugged in power and rebooted.

This laptop shows the message, "consider replacing your battery" and red "x" mark in the battery symbol on the right bottom.

 

Now, the same problem repeats with wrong remaing battery life.

(cause the laptop is turned off with higher remaing battery)

 

I have just used this one for 4 months.

Can I exchange this one with new one at Bestbuy?

Sorry to hear about your battery issue. Have you tried turning it on without the battery?

 

I've had a similar issue with an ASUS netbook that I have that had some sort of messed-up battery indicator. I took the battery out then turned it on with just the power cord plugged in. After it started Windows, I shut it off, reinstalled the battery, and re-powered the computer. For me, it seemed to resolve the issue. I've had the netbook for about 6 months without issue.

 

If this doesnt work, I'd probably recommend bringing it in to your local Best Buy. Did you buy Black Tie Protection with the computer? If the battery is indeed defective, they'll be able to order you a replacement one under the terms of the plan. Since the computer is already 4months old, they won't be able to exchange it in store (Best Buy has a 30 Day Return/Exchange Policy)
