I just got a laptop as a gift from my husband and I am trying to figure out one of the features ...what in the world is an express Wlan mini card? what does it do? does it give me more memory if I get one? I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop? I with 1gb and I also would like to put more memory? does an express mini card do that for it? Please someone respond? I would like to know all this.

A dell uses a mini Wlan card for Wireless intrnet, it is built into the laptop, as for more memory you can add more, if the memory is upgradable, but I would suggest you take it to the place you bought it so you make sure you get the right type speed and CAS lantency so it will run to the max performance. hope this helps good luck

Built-in wireless on laptops is usually implemented with a replaceable internal card (although most users aren't aware of this since it is not typically intended to be user-replacable).  In older laptops this form factor was called "Mini-PCI", but in newer laptops it is called "Mini-PCI Express".

What it means in the specifications is that your laptop has built in wireless networking capability, and that in theory it is upgradable (although I strongly reccommend against doing this unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing - this component upgrade is frequently not allowed by the laptop warranty, unlike memory upgrades which almost always are allowed by the warranty.)

You can go to this website and download a small scanner program that will tell you what kind of memory that you have and what your upgrade options are.

Congratulations on the new laptop. As stated, the Wlan mini wireless card would not help with memory upgrade.
