Thanks for joining the Best Buy forums and reaching out to us on the Car, Marine, and GPS section to ask us about our installation procedures. I'm happy to see @autotech521 hopped in to answer your question, and I want to elaborate a little more on my words used back when I was the Superuser @autotech796.
The way I installed products into a vehicle is to provide the customer with their aftermarket technology while keeping the factory look as clean as possible. Removing the cords from the front of your vehicle, not only creates a distraction free zone, you eliminate simple snags and exposed cords. While there are many ways to interface wires into a circuit, our certified MECP Geek Squad Autotechs are held to a very high standard of only the most reliable connections.
While we many not necessarily install to a "fuse box" there are plenty of other places to grab these wires, but again there is nothing wrong with grabbing power wherever you feel you can get it easiest. Having been an installer for just under a decade, there were only one or two which required a connection to go to this location, but for the user @jshaf this connection was ideal for his situation.
Every case is different and that is why the 12 volt industry is always growing and expanding, but don't worry about keeping up with it all, you can leave this to the professionals in the store! Click HERE to schedule your appointment today!
