Re: Remote Start, Keyless Entry, and Security System Questions Answered!

Hi - I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander SE with key based ignition and keyless entry.

I am interested in a 2-way remote start/keyless entry and security (I have the standard factory security, so not sure what additional security is included).

I would like to know:

1. What is your recommeneded brand? Smart phone access is nice to have but if price difference is huge then I am willing to skip it.

2. How long does the install take? Does your store in Frisco, TX along Eldorado Pkwy have a Geek Squad that will do the install?

3. Can you please provide the cost for the different options?

Once you provide an estimate, if I am able to find the same product through another site for less would you be willing to do a price match?

Thank you,

Sri

This will be the compustars version of the mobile application that will have unlimited range called DRONE.  Subscription rates will apply*

This is the viper vehicle smart start that will provide unlimited range and subscription rates will apply*

Compustars RSIB-Al will allow customers the option to switch remotes out with a simple swap of antennas and programming of new remotes, so the next one will have the same remote start, but different antenna kit, just so you don't get confused. this option above will be a single button 2 way communication, 2000ft remotes that will allow lock, unlock, and remote start all with a single button (you will push the button once for lock, two times for unlock, and press and hold for three seconds for remote start).

This is the other remote kit upgrade for the RS1B-AL.  this will allow you to have 3000ft and 2 way communication with the buttons all seperate for lock, unlock, remote start, trunk release*

Vipers 2 way communication remote starts will come with 1 mile ranges and have the buttons seperate also for lock, unlock, remote start, trunk release*

So there are a few of your options that you can do for your vehicle that best buy offers.  as far as the installers at each stores and their capabilities i would recommend calling them to find out if they can do the installation.  they should also be able to schedule you an appointment, give a confirmation email on time frames with appointment date, and a more accurate quote if you want anything extra added on.  hope this helps and best of luck!

Re: Remote Start, Keyless Entry, and Security System Questions Answered!

Thank you for the details quotes and the explanation per quote. In your personal opinion, would you recommend one over the other? If yes, what would be your recommeneded starter?

Also, to my other question - if I find the starter cheaper elsewhere would BB do a price match?

Lastly, under your 3rd proposal, you have an asterisk (*) for the trunk release:

"viper will offer a 1 mile range with 2 way communication and have all the buttons on the remote for lock, unlock, remote start, trunk release*"

What does that mean?

Re: Remote Start, Keyless Entry, and Security System Questions Answered!

trunk release is an option for some vehicles, and and installation costs to hook up this release applies if not already quoted. another reason why i put that there is because the button is actually an AUX so it doesnt necessarily have to be designated as trunk release. if this is release is in the quote you can eliminate it if you wish to not have it, or if it is not in the quote and you do wish to have that feature, a standard add on will be assessed at the time if installation $40.

i am personally a big fan of compustar, but viper is a bery good product also. if you need a 1 mile range than the viper would be my choice, but if you dont need that much range you can go with compustar. it will also be a bit cheaper and i think better of a unit with less wires and components needed.

as far as finding a better price we cannot price match because no where else has our basic installation costs included in the price. you will find them cheaper online, but you would have to pay for installation and usually it saves about 10 dollars to go through us and have our warranty. outside remote starts will have no warranty.

Re: Remote Start, Keyless Entry, and Security System Questions Answered!

I recently purchased a viper security alarm and a bypass module but the module needs to be flashed with my cars firmware to enable the remote start.  Does BB flash bypass modules ONLY as an available service

Re: Remote Start, Keyless Entry, and Security System Questions Answered!

The manufacturing company only allows subscribers to their site to flash their modules. Since Best Buy pays for this subscription we would not be able to offer it to our clients.

You could pay for your subscription to get this flashed with proper firmware. Also note that if the unit is not installed by a professional shop that directed allows, like Best Buy, they will void warranty. Hope this helps and thanks for asking the question! Best of luck!
