Had it installed in my 2007 Honda Civic, it was fine. Then i had my sirius radio installed as well....now i get all STATIC on my AM radio station. Took it back, some kind of transmitter was changed, and i still can't receive my AM channels, any advice? If i can't get this straightened out i will be returing unit, can't justify paying 1400 for a unit that i can't play AM radio on.

Wallslug,
I need to get some more information from you before i can start recommending anything. Is this an aftermarket seperate unit that has its own dock like an xm "onyx" or a sirius "edge?" or is this a unit that is behind the kenwood radio and is controlled by radio itself? if it is an add on unit then more than likely what they used first was the transmitter and when you returned they used and "fm direct" connect which requires antenna adapters for that vehicle. let me know what exactly im dealing with and i might be able to help you out a little. good luck!

the sirius radio is a 'stelleto 2' model that comes with a docking crate that has to be put in seprately. My installer works at the pottstown store in PA. The stelleto works fine but the kenwood will not receive AM without a ton of static, it's terrible, esp. since my stock radio that came with the car didn't do that even when the stiletto was hooked into it.

wallslug,
might be a quick fix have you tried shutting off your satellite radio when you are trying to listen to AM? if the satellite radio is on then the part that they probably installed was doing its job of eliminating any kind of interference. Make sure your satellite radio is in the off position when you go back to listen to your regular AM/FM stations.
So were you able to get AM with the factory radio or not?
for your installer I work at 0796, work all day today if he wants to contact me! good luck!!

I take the stiletto radio totally out of the cradle, it's not even in the cradle and i still get a ton of static on the AM stations. Is there a possibility it could be my car itself? It has one of those antennas in the windshiled. Is there another antenna that can be added to it for better reception?

wallslug,
Man im sorry yeah it is leaning towards your car antenna or radio tuner itself. what kind of kenwood is it?

nevermind on that totally spacing out today sorry lol. you shouldn't really be having issues with the tuner in that radio. the only thing that i can think of is make sure the installer hooked up the blue wires that are connected to your antenna adapters, which im sure they did, but other than that you can try to add an amplified antenna to that vehicle they are 24.99 with a 39.99 installation fee. again there is no promises that that would even work, but i would say it helps out about 70% of the time. AM is just really hard to get in anymore.
POSSIBLE FIX:
is your radio station that you listen to on AM have a online channel? if you have a smart phone you could connect your phone to that radio and stream it that way? if you have any questions you can feel free to shoot me a phone call 5152249207 ext:2241. good luck!!!

I'M NOT SURE IF I CAN GET IT THROUGH MY PHONE, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, THAT'S A REAL GOOD IDEA, THANK YOU FOR YOUR IDEAS!
