I've just returned from my local Best Buy after being told they will not honor the recall on my amplifier. My amp is among the ones recalled as it was manufactured tested on Aug. 17, 2014. While my amp was not purchased from Best Buy, the recall notice states they can be taken to my nearest Alpine dealer. I showed them a copy of my receipt. I've also read in this forum (which according to Best Buy Customer Service at store 885 doesn't even exist) that you (Best Buy) were notified that you are authorized to handle this recall swap. I suppose the employees at store 885 are unaware of this. However they did look up the recall notice on the Alpine USA website, but still refused to honor it for me. I was given some run-a-round about them not carrying the model so they can't exchange it. I told them they could simply notify me when the replacement amp comes in and I'd pick it up then, but they refused to take my recalled one.
I would like for them to be notified that they are supposed to honor this recall. I'll not list any names, but have given you the store number above. I imagine that should be all you need to correct this error on their part. Please reply when it is taken care of so I can drop off this amplifier.

Let me apologize for the troubles with this recall up front. A while back i posted on this same issue for another customer with these amplifiers that were being recalled. Nothing was written into stone at that time, but there is now a way for Best Buy's to handle this recall. There will be a little bit of leg work on your end for the initial setup to take advantage of this recall swap from Alpine.
The first thing that you should do is call 1-800-TECH101 to be sent a replacement unit, you then have the unit shipped to the store to perform the swap at no charge to you with the correct sku that the tech should be entering in at the time of the swap. This will require an installation appointment during this busy time of year so if you find yourself a ways out in our books please accept my apologies, but it is the holiday season!

Thank you for the information.
I'll call the number tomorrow. However, I do not need an installation, just an exchange. My amp is currently out of the car and I will install the replacement myself, once it arrives. So they will not need to set an appointment, tying up their time and mine. They can just call me when it arrives and I'll stop in that day to exchange them.
