recording while charging..,possible??

A group of friends and I are renting a huge lake house and are looking at setting up cameras to record our stupid selves...but we want to just leave them recording. Are there any camcorders out there that can record while charging? And what ways do they charge? (outlet, usb, etc) I know this is probably a stupid question but I have no clue.

Re: camcorder recording while charging

why do you need it to charge while recording?  If it's plugged in, you can run in AC until your event is over.  Basically you charge up the battery and run off AC.  Or buy additional batteries.

  • a lot of camcorders in the store worked while plugged in.
  • are you going to have enough recording media?  Do you want your recording in HD or 3D?
  • do you want "night shot" to record in darkness?
  • some camcorders allow for "extended" or oversized batteries to yield 4 or more hours
  • are you sure you want to watch all those recorded hours?
  • remember cold nights can shorten battery life.
  • you can always buy a second external charger.
  • avoid using a DSLRs to record the video... many sensors will overheat in 15 to 30 minutes
