Hiya, guys. I need some help.  Well, it's actually my boyfriend that needs the help, but hopefully this will work.

He bought a new webcam about a month ago, but we haven't been able to get it to work on his computer.  I know this will make things difficult, but I don't know what kind of computer/webcam he has.  The problem is that the webcam won't work because it says it's in use.  He's tried uninstalling and reinstalling, going to task manager, and we're just not sure what to do.

Any ideas?  I know it's a a broad question in the sense that the computer and webcam model are unknown.. but.. it's been going on for a month.    Before that, the other webcam wouldn't work.

Help, please?

You are correct to assume that it would be difficult to troubleshoot your boyfriend's webcam without knowing the model of webcam, and what computer he is using. If uninstalling and reinstalling the software that came with the webcam didn't resolve the issue there certainly could be something wrong with the webcam. The fact that the previous webcam didn't work either could suggest there is something wrong with the computer itself. I would make sure that the drivers being installed are compatible with the computer's operating system, and if there not you could try going to the manufacturer's website to see if they have the correct drivers for download. If this doesn't work I would have both the webcam and the computer looked at by a service technician. You could certainly take it to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy® store, and they should be able to troubleshoot the issue.
