Sony HDR-CX100

I am really upset with this HD camera. The HD seems to be pretty worthless because my computer will not burn the HD footage onto a DVD easily. It takes hours and usually doesnt even finish. I have a fairly new computer (bought it about a year ago). Is there any way to make this process easier?

The return period has passed so I can't take it back. When buying it at the store I asked a worker several questions about it including if it was easy to burn onto a dvd and he said it was simple. I must be doing something wrong!!! The format is .mt2s which I do not recognize. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Sony HDR-CX100

HD footage can never be burned to a DVD directly (at least not for the purposes of playback on a normal DVD player), as DVD is fundamentally NOT HD.  To burn something playable by a DVD player requires recompressing the video from MPEG-4 AVC to DVD-compliant MPEG-2.

It is pretty easy to burn HD footage to a Blu-Ray as the AVCHD standard is effectively a subset of the Blu-Ray video standard.  It is also possible to burn a Blu-Ray file structure to a DVD, in which case normal DVD players can't use it but Blu-Ray players will treat it as a "small" Blu-Ray disc with limited play time.
