Hi ya'll, I have a digital SLR & the memory card - ( SanDisk Ultra 4GB Secure digital high capacity) & also have just a everyday digital camera with a memory card - ( SanDisk 1.0 GB secure digital ) . Here's the problem when i put the memroy card from my everyday digital camera in to my laptop ( Gateway windows XP Home Edition Model number : MX6912) I can unload my pics off of the memory card ( SanDisk 1.0 GB Secure Digital) but when i put in the other one ( SanDisk 4 GB Secure Digital High Capacity) it doesn't allow me to unload it or read it. I even tried searching the laptop while the memory card was in the laptop but nothing resulted from my point of knowledge. or maybe this is alittle clearer: When i put in the momery card - SanDisk Ultra 4GB Secure digital high capacity the laptop doesn't knowledge that i put it in the laptop computer. I even did searches to find where on the laptop computer the memory card was at but in all of the results came nohting? why is that? So what memory cards can i buy so when i get back from my trip i can unload them on to my laptop?

Cards greater than 2 GB are SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards.  Devices that don't support SDHC can't read SDHC cards.  Most likely your laptop's current configuration doesn't support SDHC.

Based on Gateway's support site, it looks like your laptop was made sometime in 2006 or so?  Most laptops from that era didn't have SDHC support out of the box.  I know my Dell E1705 didn't.

The good news is that the card reader hardware in most such units is SDHC capable, the laptop just needs a driver upgrade to support SDHC (like my Dell did).

If that driver doesn't fix your problem, you have two choices:

1) Stick with cards less than 2 GB (this could be a pain with the D60)

2) Get a USB SDHC reader

Actually a third option is to use the USB cable that came with the D60, but this is usually slower, eats battery, and uses a weird cable no other device you own uses.

The BB forums may have mangled that link.  If it doesn't work, go to Gateway's support site, search for downloads for your computer, and get the latest version of the TI Media Card driver.
