Just sold my D700... time to upgrade!
Now why did you do that?
If you haven't heard, some feel Canon & Nikon is splintering their product line to meet market demand. The Pro lines are staying under 18 megapixel for low light and image quality. However the amaturer line is going into a megapixel war (D800 is 36mp?). Google for Thom Hogan's "Amateurs Need More Pixels" comment.
The D700 isn't that long in the tooth, I'm not selling mine, while drooling over a D800.

I doubt the D800 will be anywheres near 36MP. It more than likely will be the same setup as the D700 is to the original D3. Same sensor in a prosumer body. The D4X may be 36MP when it comes out. Honestly I dont want to think about that. It takes a while for me to do post when I use my 3X for weddings. Heck, I still have my D2H, D2x and D70 bodies. Just never thought about selling the old bodies when I buy new ones. They do make good cameras to use in volatile enviorments (ie kayaking, mud volleyball, skiing). If they get damaged, I dont have to hear my insurance guy start crying.![]()

It happened.... It's more than 36mp.... just a little less pixel density than the D7000.
