Mini DV Camcorders/ suggestions for filming basketball games

Do they not sell any Mini DV Camcorders anymore?  I am looking for a new camcorder to record basketball games.  Therefore it must hold at least 2 hours of memory.  What do I need?

Re: Mini DV Camcorders/ suggestions for filming basketball games

Tape-based camcorders have been almost entirely replaced with flash memory or hard drive based camcorders.

I would recommend a flash memory based unit, due to having no moving parts in the recording mechanism (only in the optics), which improves shock resilience/durability and reduces motor noise in your recordings.

You may want to consider a high definition unit such as Canon's Vixia HF series depending on budget.  At maximum quality (1080p, 17 Mbps), my HF100 fits about 2 hours onto a 16GB SD card.  Reduce the quality slightly and you can fit much more onto a 16GB card.  Usually your limiting factor will be battery and not storage - consider purchasing an external power supply.
