Are there any new updates on this? It looks like Best Buy Canada is selling the SX200IS. Does this mean we can expect it in the US soon? Also, does anyone know if there is a difference between the Canadian model and the US?  I have a BestBuy gift card and want to buy the SX200IS. thanks

I have good news and bad news in regards to Best Buy® selling the Canon SX 200 IS point and shoot camera. The good news is we are now selling this camera, but the bad news is we are already sold out of this camera on BestBuy.com. Our stores do not have this camera available for purchase right now. You can add it to your wishlist on BestBuy.com and once it is available for purchase again you should receive an email notification.

The only difference between the Canadian model and the U.S. model would be that the manufacturer's warranty on a Canadian model would only be valid in Canada, and same would be true for the U.S. model. If your Best Buy® gift card is a U.S. gift card it would only be able to be used on BestBuy.com and in Best Buy® stores in the U.S. I hope this helps!

Any update on this Allan? Its been serveral months since your posts and essentially the status hasn't changed?

A sales associate at the local BB hinted that the reson for the delay was to get rid of older canon camera stock.

Does anyone at corporate realize people want to buy this camera?

I have asked my local Best Buy sale reps and they have no clue when they are coming in or why they are not in. I got so tired of waiting that I just bought it online elsewhere over in a-m-a-z-o-n. I got a great deal there WITH a kit that has *everything* including the 8GB memory card, a case, mini tripod, extra battery, and a lot more. Less than 400 bucks.

So as much as I love Best Buy, they took too long and I took my business elsewhere. This camera is amazing and I am definitely not returning it. If Best Buy wants business, they need to get this camera ASAP.

Afraid they were just giving you the runaround and trying to act like they were "in the know". The camera has been available through the BB and BB4Business websites for a while now and it is not an in-store item. As someone who used to work for Best Buy, I can tell you that many sales associates, when confronted with a question that involves things beyond their grasp, will resort to making things up or throwing out buzzword laden responses if you are really interested in a particular product that they know nothing or very little about in order to make themselves appear "in the know" as if they have some tangible insight as to what the company is or isn't doing. Some of the stuff I've heard come out of fellow employees when a customer asks about why things are a particular way at Best Buy would make you roll on the ground laughing if you have any idea what they were trying to talk about. Frankly, I have never been satisfied with Best Buy's  choices in the items they carry in store and online when it comes to a lot of electronics, especially cameras. For example, the PowerShot 2100IS is only available through their BB4Business website yet it's a perfect camera to sell in the stores because it comes in jet black, uses AA batteries and SDHC cards, and fits in many of the compact camera cases they sell.That's three attachments right there! Instead, they bloat their inventory with pocket cameras that have little or no real differences in features or styling and have next to no attachments apart from an SDHC card and a camera case if you are lucky enough to find one that small.

If you want the camera, order it on the website. It's not an "in-store" item.

We no longer have the Canon SX200is for sale on BestBuy.com, and due to the fact that we have been unable to get this product from the manufacturer we will not be selling this model camera at this time. I'm sure this is not what you wanted to hear, but if we are unable to get the camera from the manufacturer we would not be able to sell it to our customers.
