When can I expect the Canon Powershot SX200IS digital camera to be available at Best Buy?

Hi limegirl234,

On Canon's website they state that the Canon SX200IS will be available for purchase in March of this year, but as right now Best Buy® has not announced what date we will be selling this model. I would just keep your eyes open!

As you can see, over 1500 people have read my message.  Almost more than any other message.

I would think this means that people are very, very interested in this camera!  So when is Best Buy

planning on carrying it either in the store or on the website?  Get with it Best Buy, we want this camera!

This looks to be an exciting upcoming camera.  I too have been checking the camera section the last few times I've been in BB to see if they carry it yet, because I wanna see it, feel it, get hands on with it.

I currently own the SX110IS, and I *love* it.  The SX200IS could be a worthy upgrade.  I love the idea of the HD 720p video.

I noticed the SX110 has been on sale with a low price the last week or two... maybe they are clearing it out for the SX200.

I am very interested in this camera as well. Since I'm leaving for my vacation at the end of April, I may have to order it from an online company instead if best buy doesn't get it soon, they all seem to have it;

Another good alternative to this model would be the

Panasonic ZS3, but the panasonic brand seems to be more of a rarity so it may be harder to find.

Best buy is also selling the samsung WB500, another extended zoom point and shoot with wide angle. However, samsung didn't seem to do a very  good job with this one: uneven flashing, subpar picture quality, a lot of noise, extremely noticeable barrel distortion. It is cheaper, but I think its way more worth it to wait for either the Canon or Panasonic one to come out.

Not sure how even the newest point and shoot (even a high end "bridge camera" P&S like the SX series) can beat a midrange DSLR only 1-2 years old.

I truly apologize for the delay in my response, but I wanted to get you a conclusive answer before posting back. I have found out that as of right now Best Buy® will not be selling the Canon SX200 IS Point and Shoot camera in our stores or on BestBuy.com. We are looking into the possibility of making this camera available for purchase on BestBuy.com sometime in the future, but as of right now this camera isn't available for purchase from Best Buy®.

Wait so you're saying that Best Buy will not be carrying this product [the Canon SX200] ever in the store? Or just for the moment they will not carry it?

Because if Best Buy is not going to invest the effort in selling this product in the stores (ever), then I truly believe that they will be missing out on a lot of good sales because this is a product that a multitude of people are dying to check out and have. I for one am one who wants to see this camera in person before buying. Hopefully Best Buy will reconsider and have this camera in stores in the next few months. They won't be sorry.
