Canon Instant Rebate?

Canon has an instant rebate offer currently on a variety of lenses if purchased from an authorized dealer or reseller.  One particular is $150 off the EF 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM.  The price for this lens on bestbuy.com is $1,849.99 on sale.  The description does not say this is the canon rebate - so I am thinking this is just a Best Buy sale price.  Will I still be entitled to the additional $150 Canon Instant Rebate?

No. Best Buy does not participate in Canon's rebate programs. The thing of it is that you wouldn't even be getting a deal anyway. What happens whenever these rebates come out is that the dealer jacks up the price for the value of the rebate or twice the value in some cases so that when you buy it, you are under the assumption you are paying less when you're usually paying more or about the same depending on the price fluctuations. You're not gonna get much of a deal if you buy the lens from any retail shop during these rebate periods unless you can get a price match and beat but if you go online to a wholesale place, you can get the lens significantly cheaper regardless of whatever puny rebate is being offered.
