Hi,

I'd like to know the date I'll be able to walk into a BBY and purchase the Canon Waterproof D10 camera.  I'm going on vacation the 23rd and need it.  The release date from Canon says EARLY May.  Please help!

I shop at the Columbia MD location if that helps.

At this time I am not sure when or if we will be selling the Canon D10, but I am trying to find out and once I do I will post back to this thread. If you’re looking for a waterproof Point and Shoot camera I can also suggest looking at the new Olympus Tough series cameras.

I have seen that many other stores in the new york city area are getting the D10 and selling it. I personally would rather give my business to B.B. But I have not seen this camera for sale? Is there a reason that B.B. is letting this slip thru their fingers?

I was glad to read that both of you would like to purchase the Canon D10 from Best Buy®, but unfortunately we will not be offering the Canon D10 for sale at this time. We do constantly review our product offerings and it is not impossible that we might sell this camera sometime in the future.

Well I had money in hand ready to buy with the service plan you guys love so much.  Looks like A.m.a.z.o.n. will be getting my business on this one.  BBY insists on selling those crappy pic quality Olympus cameras.  What good is waterproof if the pics are awful.  Take a look at the d10 Flickr group.  This one blows away the competition in quality and yet you won't carry it.  Too bad for BBY I guess.  In the grand scheme of things you probably don't care and that's fine.  A.m.a.z.o.n. pre-order here I come!

I really dont want to knock B.B. on this. But I must agree with aubiem. The Olympus cameras have horrible picture quality. I really dont understand why B.B. would only carry one version of a waterproof camera and not have a competition for it. You must remember Canon starting making lenses first and camera's second. Their picture quality is quite superior. And with the wide range of other camera's that B.B. carries from Canon it is hard to believe that they are not adding this one to that list! B&H photo and A.m.a.z.o.n. are already sold out of pre-orders for this camera. B.B. cant tell me that there is buzz and good things with this camera. I dont see Olympus cameras selling out. I am a B.B. Silver rewards member. I show where I spend my money. I encourage B.B. reps to reconsider their decision and carry this camera!

Yep. I just ordered it from A.m.a.z.o.n. due to me by the end of next week.  It's a shame that I couldn't get it from BBY to help maintain my Rewards status and get the protection plan.  Not happy about that!

On a personal note I agree with you and it seems to me that we would want to sell the only other viable option to the Olympus Tough series cameras. Unfortunately it is not part of my position to determine what model cameras we carry. It might not have been our decision not to carry this camera since Canon would of course be involved in those discussions.
 
I also agree that Canon has consistently been one of the top two camera manufacturers for many years (with Nikon being the other one). I have passed your concern onto the parties involved in determining what cameras we offer for sale, and hopefully your concerns will turn into future customers being able to have more choices when purchasing a waterproof camera from Best Buy®.

Thank you for your help Allan! It is nice to know that there is someone we can send our concerns to and be heard! I did alot of research into choosing this camera for my honeymoon in July, and while it does sadden me that as of now B.B. wont carry this model. I will hold off purchase for a little while with the little hope that B.B. will carry it in the near future.

Again thank you for all your help on this. Especially passing on concerns to the people that need to hear them. That is a very good thing to hear from a large company! It shows that B.B. does care about its customers and their wants and needs!

  I am also very interested in buying the canon d10 from best buy, especially since you guys have the only reasonably priced warranty that actually coveres water damage. Allan, do you think you can check and see if it's in the works? Thanks!
