Canon 5D Mark III => Light Leak & Exposure warning

For those keen on the new 5DM3.... a warning about the exposure metering.

  • It's been reported that using the LCD light in dark environments will affecting the metering.
  • Ambient light on the top LCD will enter the exposure metering circuits to again mess up the metering...

Hmm... does this mean the camera can't be trusted outdoors in bright light, nor in total darkness?

Re: Canon 5D Mark III => Light Leak & Exposure warning

Hi xl,

Sorry for the delay in responding on this. I believe you are correct, and that Canon is working on a resolution to this problem. I know you’re a Nikon user, but if any Canon shooters have any concerns about this I would suggest contacting Canon directly.

Thanks,

Re: Canon 5D Mark III => Light Leak & Exposure warning

I actually do own and use Canon cameras.  I even have a 580ex2 for my SX1.  I also have a Canon HD camcorder.

I also have Sony camcorders and recently purchased their 3D model.

My objective was to highlight potential problems for purchasers and help them make an informed decision when buying products.
