Hi, I am in SF on business and am looking to pick up a Canon 24-105 f4 lens. I can find themon the Best Buy website so cant find a price? can anyone help me?
also, if i use this on a 40D, is it worth the extra $$$ from my 17-18 f4-5.6 IS USM - i am pretty happy with the results i get from that but hope that the extra length and quality will be worth the investment...
thanks,
Mark

Only lens I found in a similar range was a 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 non "L". Couldnt find a 24-105 F/4 L lens on BB's site.

Hi mcody,
I am assuming you meant to write that you currently are using the Canon EF-S 17-85MM f4-5.6 IS USM. If this is true the biggest differences between these two lenses is that the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM throws a much larger circle onto the sensor, and this is because this lens is designed for cameras with "full frame" sensors like the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Another obvious difference that you might find useful is that this lens is one stop wider at the telephoto side, and this should allow you to shoot with a slightly faster shutter speed that the lens you have right now. The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is a Pro level lens and will be built much better and have better glass in it than the one you have. One disadvantage is that this lens will not be as wide angle as the one you currently are using, and if you like wide angle I would stick with the lens you have until you decide to upgrade your camera body to a "full frame" sensor model.
Unfortunately Best Buy® doesn't sell the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens right now, and if you decide you would like to purchase one you would need to look at other retailers. I hope this helps!
Thanks for posting,
