Canon 16-35 2.8 lens

I have been waiting for this lens to finally go on sale through best buy to be the same price as everywhere else, and it finally has!  BUT! it hasn't been available online, even before it went on sale.  Now, it's finally on sale to be the same price as all other retailers, but it's still not available (and it's not in stores).  How does best buy put a lens on sale that they don't even have available (and haven't  had available - even before it went on sale)?  when are we going to be able to get a hold of it (there are also a ton of other popular canon lenses that aren't available now and are also on sale)?

Thanks for any info you can provide...

Re: Canon 16-35 2.8 lens

Hi cjtell,

This is a very nice lens, and I can definitely understand you wanting to get your hands on it! It is true that this lens is not available in our stores at this time, but you should be able to purchase it on BestBuy.com (and have it shipped to your home). Unless a product on BestBuy.com says not available or on backorder it should be in stock at BestBuy.com's warehouse, which means it is available for purchase. I put it in my cart, and I was allowed to checkout with it so it should be available for purchase. I also show that it is currently on sale for $1,599.99. I hope this helps!

I'll be blunt. Don't consider buying lenses at Best Buy. The prices are not competitive and their sale prices are significantly higher than what you'd pay elsewhere. For example, at another retailer which happens to be a camera store, the lens you want is around 1400 dollars at the current sale price and it's around 1600 at Best Buy's "sale" price.
