Camcorder with slow motion replay?

Is there a camera that is resonably pirced that you can do slow motion playback on the camera after recording?  I've been told you can upload to computer and use software to do slow motion playback, but when we record runs for rodeo, we like to watch the "replay" in slow motion to critique how we did.  We also put it on the big screen and use the camera to do slow motion playback.

We still have an 8mm camera and would like to upgrade to newer technology camcorders.

Your input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

JD

Re: Camcorder with slow motion replay?

How slow do you want to go?  What movements do you want to study?

Video cameras typically capture 29.95 frames per second.  Unless you want to capture a bullet, just get some video editing software (like Premiere Elements) and you can slow the movements down on any video file.

Re: Camcorder with slow motion replay?

I was told that the most expensive sony can do slow motion playback. I was hoping a camera for $300the would do the trick.

Don't need to see a bullet :smileyhappy:, but just to do playback of a rodeo run to see what was done right or wrong. I compare it to replaying a swing on baseball swing or something like that.

I guess I will keep my hi 8mm camera and wait until I can afford a camera with slow motion playback.

Thanks for the posts!

Re: Camcorder with slow motion replay?

Do you need to see slo-motion playback on the spot on the screen?  Or can you see it later when you download the footage to a computer with video editing software?

If on the computer, you can use your 8mm.  However, with the fragility of tape, I would use something with flash memory.
