Duplicate And Unknown Charge

[ Edited ]

good afternoon,

I purchased an Apple Pencil and an Apple smart keyboard case for iPad Pro 10.5 in on 9/6/17 and was charged twice for the transaction. I have a digital receipt as well as a screen shot of the bank transaction that I will attach to this email. I also have an unknown charge for $5.26 that I have no idea what it was for.

Re: Duplicate And Unknown Charge

Hey there, Shawn,

I’m more of an Android gal myself, but congratulations on your recent Apple purchase. I’m sorry to hear things didn’t go according to plan though, as getting charged for the same order twice is understandably alarming. This is particularly true for those big ticket items, so I appreciate you joining the Best Buy forum. I’d be happy to offer some insight into our billing processes and see how I might best assist you.

When online orders are first placed on BestBuy.com, we should be placing a pending authorization on your method of payment to ensure funds are available to secure the purchase. Once the order ships, that authorization should fall off and the charge should appear simultaneously. On occasion though, those authorizations can linger longer than expected. Although dependent on the issuing bank, they typically expire within 3 to 5 business days of an order being shipped or picked up.

Upon review of your online transaction, I see two separate authorizations were in place ($276.02 and $5.26) on top of the actual charge of $276.02. Please know we shouldn’t collect on those pending authorizations, so as previously advised, they should drop off your account relatively soon. If not, we ask you to reach out to your bank for further assistance.

Sincerely,
