Best buy credit card authorization failed

Hi,

 

I just got approved for a Best Buy credit card/store card. The agent ont the phone stated that I could place an order immediately, without the physical card, as long as I go to check card status and then link the card to my best buy account, which I did. I then placed an order for a laptop online and under payment method, had this credit card selected (12 month flexible financing) and it has now come back to say authorization failed.

 

I don't quite understand how a credit card I just got approved for, could fail authorization, especially since I didn't have to enter any of the card details in (The system did this). Very frustrated as I obtained the credit card purely for this purchase

The moderators might be able to tell you precisely why the authorization failed - it could be something didn't match up with what the system has as your billing info, could also be the amount was over your approval amount, could be numerous reasons. You could also call Citibank (the company who actually issues the cards) at 1-888-574-1301 to see if they can give you a reason as to why the purchase was declined.

The moderators for Best Buy usually respond in anywhere from a few hours to a few days as the forum is a first come first serve. Sit tight and they should be able to assist you further!

Welcome to the Best Buy Community forums. I know how frustrating it can be to have an order canceled and I apologize that you had such a hard time getting your order successfully placed.
