bestbuy.com price match

I've not had much luck getting a price match on two items I recently ordered online through bestbuy.com

If I'm reading their policy correctly, they will price match themselves, but not competitors.

Anyone had success with this, getting them to price match their own site?

Re: bestbuy.com price match

What problems have you run into trying to get the price match? Are you doing this in-store or by calling 1-888-BestBuy?

Hi Adam, thanks for the quick reply.

I called the toll free number since the purchase was all done online. I purchased a panasonic television and blu-ray player on 9/1.

My order:

Item                                                          Sale Price                Final Price

Panasonic HDTV TC-P65S1               2699.99                   2499.99

Panasonic Blu-ray DMP-BD60K            229.99                     229.99

(note: the Final price of the tv was $200 less because between Aug 29-Sept 12, Panasonic and it's partners were offering a $200 instant rebate off the price of the television when bundled with the BD60 player).

The tv was delivered on 9/11. That same day when I checked the website, the price was now listed as:

Item                                                          Sale Price                Final Price

Panasonic HDTV TC-P65S1               2599.99                   2399.99

Panasonic Blu-ray DMP-BD60K            199.99                     199.99

I even made a copy of the price, because I knew the promotion was set to end soon (Sept. 12). So I wanted to ensure I had a copy to prove the price difference if things were not acted on quickly.

When I spoke to the CS rep on the phone, 9/12,  she agreed I should receive the $130 credit. But it wasn't up to her, I guess. She filed a credit request.  Later that day, 9/12, the Credit Department rep emailed me saying I only qualified for a $30 refund on the blu-ray player. Wasn't too happy about that. Seems to me I should be able to get the $130 credit.

Re: bestbuy.com price match

You're welcome! I apologize that they were only able to approve the price match for the bluray player. I would call back and get a second opinion. That is just my opinion, not sure if there is anything else they can do.

Re: bestbuy.com price match

Thanks again Adam.

I took your advice, after not hearing back through email from the Credit department, I again called the toll free CS number. The rep said they thought the request would be better suited going through the promotions department, and I might have better luck going that route. I guess since the price drop was due to the instant rebate Panasonic was offering, that may work better. I guess I'll wait a few days and see how it goes.

Re: bestbuy.com price match

Hey scopus1972,

First of all let me say congratulations on your recent purchase!  Picking out a new TV and parts for a new home theater system is always exciting, and I can imagine how happy you must have felt to discover that the products you purchased had gone down in price within the price match period.  Although I do not know why you would have been informed you were only eligible for a $30 credit I apologize you found this to be the case.

I would like to provide you some additional information, so please check your private messages (the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page) for further communication.
