Why is it so difficult to get a price match done when the lower price was from Best Buy as well?

I have  been on the phone for 2 days with reps concerning a LED I purchased just 10 days ago that dropped $100 yesterday, and it has been an incredibly trying experience. Since the price increased again, no one knows what the lower price was, or when it was reduced. They claim nothing can be done right away, although they'll start a case and see "IF" they'll refund the difference. I would understand some difficulty if it was a match to another store, but this is all within Best Buy,

If you don't call during the time frame that it is at the lower price, they don't match it.

Whoops hit post too soon. Did you call while it was still showing the lower price?

Re: Why is it so difficult to get a price match done when the lower price was from Best Buy as well?

It was a "midnight sale"...sometime around 2 in the morning. Calling was not an option. I called the next morning. One would assume they know all of this. What did they want me to do? Buy the TV again and return it with the old receipt? The two people I've spoken two were not even aware of a drop and claim they had no way of checking.

If Best Buy knows they dropped the price, and the hours were irregular to say the least, the price match should be done on good faith alone. I'm not in the habit of giving away money, and I purchased the unit 10 days ago, not 60.

If you didn't call during the time frame of the sale, they won't match it. They are open 24 hrs. Those kind of limited time sales are usually not eligible for PM at all anyways.

Re: Why is it so difficult to get a price match done when the lower price was from Best Buy as well?

Oh well, my mistake to assume they are not one of the only companies in the world to have 24 hr customer service, considering they are only open until 9:30pm, are not an emergency agency of any sort, insurance, bank, or phone company. And as for not being elligible, why not? It is a sale like any other. Should they choose to go the route of denying a $100 difference, they will just get their TV back and lose yet another customer. Again, if I were to donate money, it would be to a charity, not to a multi-million dollar corporation.

Hello EKL18,

Thank you for shopping with us!  I hope that you’ve been enjoying your new TV in the past few weeks.

I apologize if you’ve had difficulty getting answers from our support team in the last few days.  I was able to go back and see that the television you purchased was offered for about $20 less than you paid during our recent midnight sales event.  I see that your case is still open and pending with our online support and you should receive a response back shortly if you haven’t already, but please keep in mind that our Price Match Guarantee does not apply to BestBuy.com Midnight Sale events. You can view our full policy at the link below.
