Time to update the BBY website to recognize that Cookies are already enabled!

Apparently, Best Buy needs to update their website because every time we try to access our account, a page opens up telling us to update Internet Explorer to Accept Cookies. First of all, it is setup to accept cookies and always has been. Secondly, when we click the button on the BBY website which tells customers how to setup Internet Explorer to accept cookies, the directions it shows are at least FIVE YEARS out-of-date referring to Internet Explorer 5.0! Apparently, their webmaster hasn't noticed that this is 2012 and the version of Internet Explorer is now 9.0, hence the steps that the BBY website recommends don't even make sense. Furthermore, because the BBY website is out of date, it cannot detect when cookies have been enabled in the latest version of Internet Explorer, hence preventing us and probably many other customers from accessing their online account. So, instead of returning an error page telling your customers to update their current version of Internet Explorer to accept cookies, Best Buy, you should first tell your webmaster to update your website to recognize later versions of Internet Explorer, so it can tell when cookies have been have already been enabled! Please advise...

This doesn't excuse the error on BestBuy.com, but I'd highly recommend against using Internet Explorer. There are far better and more secure browsers out there.

Hi Starmaker,

Thanks for posting and I am sorry to hear that BestBuy.com hasn’t been working for you, since it’s claiming that your need to accept cookies.

To be honest, this isn’t an issue that I have seen arise too much lately.  BestBuy.com is usually up to date and should be completely compatible with Internet Explorer 9.0.  Regardless of that, I will make sure that your experience is being forwarded along here in our corporate office.  In the meantime, you can try trouble shooting the issue by using other browsers and seeing if they give the same issue.  Alternatively, you can try making sure that Internet Explorer has the most up to date software, just in case,

Thank you again and please let me know if you have any questions.
