Stolen package

I ordered a Otterbox Commuter Series case for my iPhone earlier this week and it was shipped to me on Thursday. The UPS tracking said it was delivered and left at my door. When I got home it was gone. I thought maybe a neighbor took it inside to secure it until I got home so I waited to do this. This morning I went outside to find the shipping box empty and in the yard. The Otterbox packaging was in the dumpster obviously empty as well. Im wondering if there is anyway to fix this. I have never had a problem like this before and I order from bestbuy.com almost weekly. Can someone please help me? I want to also add signature on delivery so this won't happen again.

Please help me as I'm a little confused. You checked during the day that the package had been delivered from someplace other than your home right? The reason you didn't see the empty box in your yar was because when you got home it was dark right? What made you think to check the dumpster if in your words this never happened before? What crook would take the time to open your package, leave the box in your yard then open the Otterbox package, take the item, then leave the packaging in the dumpster? This makes no since to me at all.

Re: Stolen package

I actually didn't know it had been delivered until I checked the tracking on ups.com. After I realized it was delivered at 11 in the morning I asked my wife if she brought the package in. She said there was nothing there when she got home. At that point I figured one of my neighbors would be bringing it to me that night. The next morning is when I saw the box in the yard. It probably was there the night before but I don't get home from work until 7 and it is dark here in Wisconsin. That is until daylight savings last night. Anyway, I decided to check the box blowing around in the yard and sure enough it had my name on it. I also verified where it was shipping from with the tracking number and this was definitely it. However, the box was empty so I thought maybe I would look in the dumpster and sure enough right on top is a Commuter Series box. It could be a coincidence and maybe it's not mine but it just all seems a little fishy. I'm not sure I can get Best Buy to replace it because it was delivered but I thought I would try. It will definitely make me think twice about using bestbuy.com. The one I ordered wasn't available in the store.

Re: Stolen package

While I am not a big fan of Best Buy, in this case it was just some scumbag who happened to see the delivery and helped himself. I once lived in an area that had many mail thefts. I chose to get my packages delivered to my workplace. I do believe in this case filing a claim with the shipper would be your best bet but make sure BBY knows what happened also. A BBY moderator may take from 3-5 business days to get back with you on this forum. I would try and call BBY also (1-888-Best Buy). After posting I "rethunk" myself and realized you might think I was implying that you were trying to scam BBY and I am sorry if you felt that way as it was not my intention. Good Luck!!!!

Re: Stolen package

I think I might change my shipping address to my work address. I'm actually the one who receives the ups packages and I only work a couple of blocks from my home. Makes sense. I don't think I can help myself from ordering more.

Re: Stolen package

I have seen some crazy videos out there of people stealing packages in front of homes stealing the contents then returning the empty box to the home again. UPS will leave real expensive items right at your door step and thieves know this and it can be someone that knows you and your work patterns that will steal your stuff. Sorry this happened and you can file a claim to get this resolved.
