I bought an iPhone and the salesman told me if I purchased the insurance at 14.99 a month it would cover the phone under many circumstances. He even boasted that if I were to get the smallest of scratches on the phone I could return it, and get another phone. Well obviously I wouldn't be that pretentious about a scratch, but when my phone fell out of my pocket and was destroyed, I was like no sweat. Accidents happen, and that why I pay 14.99 a month for insurance. (AT&T charge 9.99 a month with a 200 dollar deductible. What sold me on this insurance, other than the coverage was that bb insurance does not have a deductible. Yeah a little more than AT&T, but when u factor in the deductible if something happened was a no brainer. Or so I thought.) I brought everything to them and they said that the Phone wasn't covered. I asked them, " what have I been paying for then"? they said if the phone freezes. Umm...well apple has a one year warranty that covers phone defects etc. I showed my frustrations, and the acting manager said that the phone wouldn't be covered, but also added that if I wanted to send the phone in I could. So I decided to. Then he wouldn't send it in. He claimed to have called the insurance company. So after 5 months of paying 14.99, paying 200 for the phone, 80 dollars tax, and another 50 in accessories, I am out a phone as well as the money. They acted like I was lying about the whole thing. Like I was making this all up. What's hard to believe about me wanted my phone replaced when I have been paying 14.99 for insurance while AT&T only charge 9.99 with a deductible. So for 14.99 a month you can "freeze" protection. Or you can pay 9.99 for AT&T insurance and have it covered for any occasion that might be an unfortunate one. I even called customer relations, and got no help, or customer service. I would at least offer to see who sold the phone to me to see if this type of behavior was reported before I purchased my product. I guess this is what happens when you offer incentives to upsale add ons or accessories....some people will lie through their teeth to get what they want. Or hey, I will give the kid the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he was new and got confused. But I was given the gods honest sales pitch that the insurance was the end all be all of Phoenix problems. He was promoting this thing like it was golden. Best buy doesn't seem to care, or at least everyone I have tried to reach out to. I also read an article on yahoo news about them closing 20 stores in the next month. I thought to myself how ironic....I remember the last thing I told the customer relations rep. I told her that I would be canceling my credit card ( and yes it has a 0 balance) and that I would never be back to buy anything there again. I drove to Wal Mart and bought a go phone for the time being. I also paid 5 dollars less as well. I have had a credit card with them for 5 or more years and have spent 10k easy over those years. I just expected what I was sold on. What an employee of the store told me. Why am I being ridiculed and not handled properly when I am the consumer going to the store seeking their services. I thought I should post my recent issue for everyone to see. Educate yourself because who knows what your being told. Makes you think you have to buy the product from the general manager of the himself to make sure everything is on the up and up.
