I agree with not using best buy online. We purchased a laptop that was on sale Monday. The order status sat there for days and then suddenly it switched to backordered and no notice was given to us at all. It wasn't until 3 days later when we sent an inquiry that we were sent a form e-mail indicating the item was on back order and would ship within the next 1-2 weeks or sooner when it becomes available.
I can't imagine how any company can think this is acceptable behaviour? I understand that during the holidays these items are popular and are going to sell out but if your company is unable to honor the number of purchases it allows online then perhaps these specials should not be offered through a website. I am pretty sure if I decided to turn the tables and tell you that you will receive my payment in 1-2 weeks or when it becomes available that it would not be acceptable.

Buying a new laptop is always exciting so I can certainly imagine how you would be disappointed if your order status changed to backorder. I can’t say that I would have felt any differently. I extend my sincere apologies for any frustrations this might have caused because we never want to see your anticipation be diminished in any way.
Our website typically indicates whether a product is available to ship or on backorder before you place the order, but at such high volume times, such as around Thanksgiving, that information sometimes becomes available only after your order was placed. In situations when a product is on placed on backorder, we actually do not charge the account linked to the transaction until we have shipped the product. Therefore you are always left with the option of canceling the order and not losing any money.
With that said, I would like to further discuss the details of your order with you and I am sending you a private message to accompany this post. You can check your forum inbox by making sure you are logged into the forum and clicking the envelope icon in the upper right hand corner of the site. I look forward to working with you!
