This is why people should not use the same passwords for multiple websites.

To those of you who said it's our fault to keep the same user name and password across different sites, please explain this to me:
How can the hackers place the orders at bestbuy.com using my stored credit card info without knowing the pin# of my card? So isn't it partly bestbuy's responsibility to make sure this can never happen?

I'm not seeing how passwords has anything to do with someones account being compromised. It all has to do with BestBuy accounts being hacked with those whom have a C CRD on file plain and simple!
I've changed all my online account to make sure I have no card on file.

I don't - and I still got hacked. Your advice only applies to some - repeating it doesn't help anyone.

A few days ago, I someone tried to use my account to purchase $200 in itunes gift cards, delivered electronically to a different email address than is on my account. I got the confirmation email and 2 minutes later got the cancellation email, due to being unable to "verify my information". I was glad that the system worked, but I did call Best Buy and alert them to the fraud attempt, and I also changed my password and removed my credit card from my account.
This morning, I got the following VERY legit-looking email, purportedly from Best Buy:

I didn't trust it and certainly did not click on the "password reset" link, and instead went directly to the site and logged in, and my password worked. I consider myself pretty alert to internet scams, and I have to say, this email looked VERY legit to me, especially since I had recently had unauthorized activity on my account, and had changed my password.
I searched the Bestbuy.com site to try to find an email address to forward the bogus email to, and couldn't find anything.

I received a similar email and it is worrying to me also. Guess that since there is no Official reply from BestBuy yet, I will have to call them and have them cancel my account and delete my records for my safety.

My account was hacked today too. Bestbuy needs to get their act together and come clean with this security breach.
They order two iTunes gift cards worth $100 each and sent to {removed per forum guidelines}

Just had the same thing happen to me. Two orders for $50 Sony and $50 iTunes delivered to {removed per forum guidelines}. The first one was cancelled immediately. The second one I had to call to cancel. Changed my BB password and deleted all stored cards.
Seems like this is a much larger issue that BB is either incapable or unwilling to deal with.
