This was a refurbished item and Best Buy only made sure that it worked before re-selling it.
Its entirely possible that the original purchasor returned it stating the controller didn't work and Best Buy or the manufacturer swapped it out for one that does work but was not able to locate the correct color. The picture and description are for reference only and may not be exactly what you get when buying refurbished items.

I'm sorry to hear about the mismatched controller you received with this refurbished unit. We check every unit before it goes out, so it looks like we made a mistake at some point. I have to agree with Walrus here about returning the unit if you are looking for a matching controller with the console. Please get back to me if you have any other questions about the process.
