On Janurary 24th I preordered Mass Effect 3 Collector's edition to be picked up March 6th at the Bestbuy in Whitehall, PA. Ever since then bestbuy has been taking out the $84.79 from my checking account and reposting it back and taking it again and reposting it back. I would like to know what gives why does it keep taking the money out from my account because I don't want to accidently pay for this twice!

They are authorizing your card to make sure the money will be there when it actually ships.

Keep an eye on your account because BBY is known to run the card 2-3 times before an authorization drops off.

Luckily you only have to deal with this for one more week.

Just warning you for the worst but BBY is also known for not getting people their games on time either. So if you think you're getting the game on release day prepare for the worst.

Whenever an order is placed on BestBuy.com, a hold may be placed on the paying debit/credit card for the order total.  These funds aren’t collected until the order has been shipped or picked up at one of our retail stores, but this may have an effect on your available credit in the interim.  Like APR28 mentioned, these authorizations are also temporary in nature and must be renewed periodically, typically every 7-8 calendar days.  It’s then the responsibility of the card’s issuing bank to ensure that any expired authorizations are properly removed from the customer’s account.  Most banks are able to do so within 2-5 business days, but some may require up to one full billing cycle.

If you’d like additional information, I’d encourage you to check out BestBuy.com's Conditions of Use and to contact the customer service hotline listed on the back of your card.  I have confidence that a support rep will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding your account, as well as provide an overview of their processing times.

I see well hopefully I can get Mass Effect 3 on tiime because Gamestop ran out of the Collector's edition awhile back and there are other people hoping to get theirs as well from BestBuy. Also thanks for the advice!

I have been told to never use a debit card to make any on-line purchase. It is much harder to dispute charges using debit as opposed to credit cards...good luck with your issue!!!
