That stinks about the system not allowing you to make a payment on the first day you wanted to.
Unfortunately, the Best Buy credit card is not actually issued through Best Buy, but rather by the bank HSBC. We who have access to the Best Buy systems don't actually have access to the credit card systems. The only way I know for sure to reach them is the 800 number on the back of the card.
I wish I could tell you something more, or better news, but that's the only way I know. You'll have to talk to HSBC about waiving the late fees or anything like that.
Good luck!

Good afternoon JJW0782 -
I know how confusing it can be with all the different credit cards out there and their methods of accepting payments, so I can understand how it might throw you for a loop thinking you can pay just the day before. Please allow me to explain the Best Buy® Card a bit more to you, so that you have accurate information in the future!
As you indicated by your post, one is able to make payments online, however it is generally suggested you make the payment at least 2 days before it is due, to ensure on-time processing. If you are paying through the US Postal service, then you should allow 10 days for the payment to post prior to your due date.
What you could have done to circumvent late charges, was to choose the "rush delivery payment option". This does charge you a fee, however it ensures your payment is posted on that very day, so it does not incur you a late fee or hurt your credit rating. I know I have used this option more than once.
An option I have employed was to have my payments set up online, so that I receive an email well in advance to notify me when my current bill is viewable. I then go in, set up my payment, and choose the date it is due to actually be paid. Saves me postage and it allows me to be very proactive about my credit card.
As Miranda mentioned, our credit card is backed by HSBC. I would be happy to contact them on your behalf and see if I can help with your late payment fee, since this is your first payment and a mere oversight/misunderstanding of the system. I will need a bit more information so I am sending you a private message. To check your private messages, first ensure you are logged into the forums, then click the envelope in the upper right hand corner.
Regards,
Dorothy
