Re: Interesting/Funny/Sad

RE: Circuit City. Uh huh. Sure. Go ahead and try to spin it, Crystal. I'm not buying it. I don't need this board to hear about non-results. I am the equivalent of a superuser over at Consumerist.com. I see the thousands of posts there also about the awful service and non-resolutions. The end results are posted there, Crystal, with no editing to make BBY look good. It is a truly objective forum.

Re: Interesting/Funny/Sad

Best Buy does not guarantee a delivery date but provides estimates and for christmas, compensation for the orderes that miss christmas delivery in the form of a 10 or 20 gift card. Toshiba would not have any bearing on best buy knowing if they would get more of an item. Feel free to cancel if you don't want to wait. Someone will still contact you through your thread, normally in 3-5 business days but it has been not even 1 yet as you posted on a saturday. I thought your friend got it for you? How would you have ordered a different one? Just so you know, when corporate contacts you, they are going to need to speak with your friend anyways as they can't discuss any details of your friends order or anything to do with it so they may ask your friend to contact them.

Re: Interesting/Funny/Sad

If you truly looked through the posts, you would see tens of thousands of solutions. Circuit city went out of business because they fired thousands of their senior employees and better staff members to cut costs, they built too many stores in too many bad places, they stopped paying commission to their staff which caused again most of their tenured staff to leave due to the sudden change, and commercial credit was not their friend at that time.

Re: Interesting/Funny/Sad

A news article from around the time CC shut down..

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505125_162-28241493/eight-reasons-why-circuit-city-went-bankrupt/

"But the financial crisis hit and with it, the commercial paper crunch meant that vendors were not willing to supply Circuit City with goods, fearing that they'd be trapped if the firm suddenly sold off stores."

Customer service is not mentioned once. I know, I know, research is hard.. :smileysad:

Re: Interesting/Funny/Sad

Well, Crystal, I am happy to say that you are wrong. Just so YOU know, I spoke with Tasha in Executive Customer Service yesterday and she was more than happy to discuss my brother's purchase of MY GIFT with me. Since you've read my other posts, please pay attention. He is in China. That is why I am now dealing with this--China is 13 hours ahead of me and 14 hours ahead of BBY corporate.

And I never said *I* would have ordered another one. What I said was: had BBY told my brother in a timely fashion that my gift wasn't going to be here before Christmas (and they did guarantee delivery by 12/24...please brush up on your stuff), my brother would have ordered me a laptop from somewhere else--from what I hear, amazon.com, newegg.com and tigerdirect.com did just fine fulfilling their orders. BUT, we were both lied to and told "Oh no, you'll get it you'll get it" and I decided that it wasn't really that important that I have it prior to Christmas. It's only now that we find out this was a wasted effort.

It's called logic, Crystal: if the laptop hadn't be guaranteed for delivery prior to Christmas, why in the world would someone order it as a Christmas present???

And, I have already filed a complaint with my state's Attorney General. And from what I was told this morning, I'm not the only one!!! :smileyhappy:

Re: Interesting/Funny/Sad

I personally read consumerist.com for consumer related issues. Just because I don't research the same sites as you, doesn't mean I don't do my research. I like my consumer information coming at me honestly, not with a spin from a major news outlet. Research deeper.

Better yet, just use your own brain. That paragraph you copied and pasted, well, it just doesn't really make sense if you tear it apart and analyze it and look at each part of it.

I know. That's even harder than doing the research in the first place. :smileyhappy:

Re: Interesting/Funny/Sad

An even more interesting question is: How long before Best Buy's suppliers get sick and tired of being associated with a company that doesn't give a fart in a noisemaker about their customers??? At some point, someone has to step up and say enough is enough. I'm hoping 2012 is the year of that for BBY's suppliers.

Re: Interesting/Funny/Sad

Hello BarbaraInFL,

I think Tom Hanks said it best in "Forrest Gump": "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." This can relate to almost any given situation, life in general, or in your specific situation, a Toshiba laptop online order that has taken a turn for the worse. You expect it's going to be an easy transaction with your laptop arriving in time for Christmas, when all of a sudden, Christmas has come and gone and your laptop is nowhere in sight. In a panic, you seek immediate assistance, thinking that we'll be able to save the day, but alas, even that doesn't help get your laptop. What a mess!

How's that for an introduction? Now onto business. It's warming to know that Tasha was able to shed some light on the subject, but obviously this hasn't solved your situation. I know that you're still without your laptop and I want to express my deepest apologies that it's taken so long to fulfill your order. Hear my words as this was never our intention, and while I realize you may hold an opposing view, we truly care about our customers and want to resolve your situation as quickly as possible.

To that end, I've alerted our Dotcom Team about your issue and as soon as I know anything more, I'll share details with you via private message. Viewing private messages can be done by clicking the icon in the corner while you're logged into our forums, and again, I'm terribly sorry for what's happened with your order.

Sincerely,

Justin|Community Connector | Best Buy® Corporate
