If an item is stolen before customer picks it up...

...wouldn't BESTBUY be accountable for that?  Come on BestBuy...it has been almost two months!!! When are you going to resolve my complaint? If you guys can prove that there exist an individual and a footage that clearly shows that individual showed my credit card, CDL and email print out (Clearly showing my name on the credit card and CDL---if you guys can show me and the sheriffs that then by all means, you can keep my money.  But you cannot show that or at least you deny to show it to the sheriffs...for crying out loud---give me my merchandise or return my money!!!

Re: If an item is stolen before customer picks it up...

Hello Maye,

I am sorry to read that you have been having issues for so long with trying to get the item you had ordered or a refund for it. It does sound like this has been a very frustrating situation, and I apologize for that.

In looking into the previous cases regarding this, I did see that you had contacted our offices via multiple channels regarding this. According to the last notes I had seen, it appeared that Dean from our offices had called you recently and left a voicemail. Unfortunately, I am uncertain what that voicemail was specifically about, but I do encourage you to keep in touch with him if you have additional questions or concerns about his call.

Sincerely,

Melissa|Senior Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate

Re: If an item is stolen before customer picks it up...

Hi Melissa,

Is there a  date when Dean supposedly left me a message because I have been waiting for a call from BestBuy and never has BestBuy contacted me. I am really getting frustrated because it has been a while and all I get is that someone will follow up my complaint but NEVER has anyone have done so.

I have emailed the CEO on his whiteboard and twitted him, left messages on your social media( facebook or this community) called the 888 number so many times and have recently filed a complaint with the BBB... I am not expecting the sheriffs to help me because they dont care ...I guess I have to be dead before they get their fat asses to work.  I just want my laptop... the store was the means to deliver the merchandise to me and they have failed to do that since I did not receive my laptop. So can I please get my laptop back?

I would appreciate it if someone can plaese resolve this complaint...

BEWARE WHEN PROVIDING FINANCIAL INFORMATION...

BestBuy can delete this post but I feel obligated to let every consumer know:

I recently became a victim of identity fraud in the City of Santa Clarita. I bought an item online at BestBuy and someone fraudulently picked it up from the BestBuy Store at Bouquet Canyon using my Credit card and CDL. It was insinuated that it was an employee theft at the BestBuy store but the sheriff couldn't prove it otherwise.

Santa Clarita BestBuy is not cooperating by not providing a clearer footage. I bet if this was a burglary that affected their store, they would be able to produce a footage to benefit their company. But hey, I am only a consumer. WHAT DO THEY CARE!??

If anyone has been a victim of identity fraud or had your purchased item stolen within the vicinity of BestBuy, please call the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Dept at 661-255-1121. Det Marino is the one handling my case.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN SHOPPING AT BESTBUY!

Thank you for your support.

Re: BEWARE WHEN PROVIDING FINANCIAL INFORMATION...

What on earth do you mean "clearer footage"? The security cameras only have so much resolution, and only record what they're pointing at.

If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.

I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

Re: BEWARE WHEN PROVIDING FINANCIAL INFORMATION...

You would think that...but--if there was a cashier and monetary transactions are done at that site, wouldn't a security camera be focusing on that area.  The footage that was submitted by BestBuy to the sheriffs shows a few frames of a woman entering the store and a few frames of the cashier showing only the head of the cashier. Whatever happened to the rest of the frames?  I was told by one of the managers that BestBuy does not have a security team but there was this guy that watches all the surveillance at the entrance door.  And while I was waiting for the other manager, who decided to take a two hour break when he knows a custmoer is waiting for him, I have seen at the surveillance that there were cameras focused on the cashiers...why not on this certain area?

What I'm saying is that...I paid for this item and this store was not really my choice.  I ordered to pick up my item at the store closer to my house. Now when I paid for my item, it was available at this store.  After a  few hours of waiting, I decided to call the 888 number to inquire about my order--they were supposed to email a confirmation if the store can fulfill it.  I found out after that the item became unavailable at that store and out of stock online and it will take 2-3 weeks to fulfill...or I could pick it up at this store... In short, this store pick up was BestBuy's means of delivering my item--which they did not fulfill but instead insinuated that someone else picked it up and they have done the proper procedure BUT they could not show that this person did come and pick up the item... and the sheriff's cannot proceed because the footage does not really show the ACT of the incidence.

I was scared that my identity was stolen because the employee said that a CC and driver'slicense was shown but the signature on the receipt does not even show my name. I bought this online Saturday afternoon and it got stolen Monday afternoon.  The sheriff stated that my information was compromised--then again, that person has my information but did not go on a shopping spree?

I love shopping at BestBuy and I am a loyal customer. I love the store where I live because they provide such an excellent service..but after this incident I do not trust BestBuy and the way they do business...

Re: If an item is stolen before customer picks it up...

Most people that are half smart won't go on a spree. Each state has different laws stating limits on theft and corresponding punishments. Also there is a set limit on CC companies at which they will write it off and weakly pursue the culprit and a point at which they will pay for a full on investigation (usually this is only done when reported within the 24 hour window or guidelines that they follow).

Usually the sweet point is either just under $100 or just under $200. It basically gets you a slap on the wrist and CC companies will just write it off as a loss. Smart thieves know and stick by the regional limits. Meaning it is more important than ever to keep an eye on records, because it is easy to miss $20-$100 at "regular" stores
