I will never pre-order a DVD from Best Buy again (Game of Thrones debacle)

Sure, I was enticed by the cute keychain to pre-order the Game of Thrones DVD from Best Buy. That's a mistake I'll never make again.

First, the DVD was backordered the day it was released. Having so often pre-ordered things from Amazon, and having them arrive the day of release (even with cheap shipping), this completely shocked me.

Then, after having to wait over a week to receive my DVDs, I happened to check my credit card account online, and realized that I was charged $48.81 for a DVD that, had I walked into the store to purchase it that day, would have only paid $29.99 for.

Also, to top it off, it was shipped in a flimsy carboard envelope, and could have easily arrived damaged. (Thankfully it didn't.)

I will never, ever, ever again buy anything from Best Buy. Way to keep customers, guys.

Yet ANOTHER "happy"  former Best Buy customer who will now be going to Amazon where they should have gone (or gone back to) in the first place.........:smileysad:

Hey, that's really sweet. Post a message saying that somebody will contact the unhappy customer so that other readers will think that the company is being reponsive, but then you never bother to contact the customer.

A response from a Best Buy Community Connector on this forum can take 3 to 5 business days. Most don't work on weekends. If you need a quicker response, you can call 1-888-BEST BUY. Good luck.

Re: I will never pre-order a DVD from Best Buy again (Game of Thrones debacle)

Hello twillian,

I haven’t yet seen the Game of Thrones myself, but after hearing how popular it’s been, I have to admit, I am intrigued. I am sorry to see that your recent pre-order of the Season 1 set didn’t go as well as you had expected.

It was disappointing to see that the DVD set did not arrive by the release date as you had hoped. When an item is ordered from BestBuy.com, we provide estimated delivery timeframes based on the level of shipping that is selected.  To get your item by the earliest date possible, we typically recommend selecting the Express shipping option.

Generally, if an item is pre-ordered at one price and the price is lower when the item is shipped, you should be charged that lower price automatically. I am uncertain why this was not done with your order, and I apologize for the disappointment this had caused. While looking into your order, I was pleased to see that this was able to be corrected for you. If you do have any additional questions or concerns with this or anything else, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Sincerely,

Re: I will never pre-order a DVD from Best Buy again (Game of Thrones debacle)

Thank you, yes, I was credited the difference in price. However, I never would have known the price I was being charged unless I had looked at my credit card statement online. I was never sent a receipt that showed the amount that I was charged, and there was no printed receipt in the package.

I wonder how many other purchasers will only be discovering how much they paid for the DVD set when they receive their bills at the end of the month.
