Hi,
I applied at Best Buy for 2 positions... a Geek Squad CIA job, and a cashier job. I applied online last Wednesday (4 days ago) and haven't heard a word back from them. Most of the threads I've seen of people asking about getting a job said they got called wtihin 24 hrs. The longest wait was 3 days for the one person. Does this mean they don't want me? I really want to work for Best Buy because I love working with computers and electronics, and I also love helping people solve their computer problems or advising them on purchases. I think I'd be perfect for the job... I'll be honest and admit I'm only 17 years old (18 next month) and I have never applied for a job before so I don't have any professional references(I do have personal ones though). But I have plenty of experience building, repairing, and maintaining both laptop and desktop computers, I have experience in networking(both wireless and wired) and I've wired a whole house for direct ethernet connections, I also have experience with Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. I have purchased damaged computers off of E-Bay and fixed them, refurbished them to factory condition, and sold them. I have skills in persuading people in purchasing decisions, and I enjoy helping people pick out their electronics. I also have lots of patience dealing with frustrated customers.
How long does Best Buy usually take to contact applicants for the position? I'd be glad just to get an interview... even though I don't have previous work experience I'm sure if I had an interview with a manager I could easily confirm the skills I have in both computers and sales. Should I call my local Best Buy and ask if they received my application, or would that hurt my chances?
Thanks in advance for any help I can get!

Hello hpicracing -
I would recommend possibly calling your local store or stopping by in person to inquire if the positions were still open. It surely wouldn't hurt.

Thanks!
I actually just stopped in the store earlier today and talked to the operations manager. He was very nice and said that it can take a week to a week and a half for the application to enter the system. He went back and checked for me to see if he received it yet and he didn't. He said because I stopped by though he could tell I was serious about the job(which I am)... he took down my name and number and said he'd definitely keep an eye out for my name coming through the system. Does anyone here know about how long it takes them to call once they've received the application, or the chances of getting a call back?
Thanks!
