Found this as a possible route for those with ordering issues

I ordered a laptop Thankgiving day got the comfirmation email only to get the backordered email 2 hours later. After two weeks and two calls to customer serivce I cancelled the order. I found this and thought it may be of help to some having issues that are getting no help.

Re: Found this as a possible route for those with ordering issues

Taken from the FTC site.

"If you cannot ship the merchandise by the definite revised shipment date included in your most recent delay option notice, before that date you must seek the consent of your customers to any further delay. You must do this by providing customers a "renewed" delay option notice. A renewed delay option notice is similar in many ways to the first delay option notice. One important difference: the customer's silence may not be treated as a consent to delay."

So all of those who got the email that stated "if you don't reply to extend your backorder status, your order will be cancelled" (which pretty much ended in the result of the order being cancelled anyway) proves that this is illegal business practice(s)

How do you figure?  That e-mail is doing EXACTLY what you quoted above.  If you reply, you are allowing them to delay your oder, keep it on backorder status, and keep the hold on your credit card.  If you don't reply, they can cancel the order by not delaying it anymore.
