Financing Offer?

I have a question about a financing offer that was available on the Best Buy web site. I just ordered a Motorola Razr Maxx and bought a Kindle 3G Touch. When I checked the Best Buy web site it showed an 18 month financing offer for the Razr Maxx if I spent $429 storewide and a 6 month financing offer for the Kindle 3G Touch. I would have ordered both items online, but the Kindle was not available for online ordering and had to be purchased in the store. Since the total of both items was around $450 I assumed this would qualify me for both financing offers. When I went into the Best Buy store to order the Razr Maxx and buy the Kindle I was told I could only get six months financing for the Razr Maxx and would get 18 months financing for the Kindle, which is the exact opposite of what was offered on the web site. The salesman pulled up the web site where the financing offers were clearly displayed but said his system would not allow him to give me the financing deals. I would like to get an explanation on why buying the items in the store instead of online would lead to different financing offers. I think you will understand my confusion and honestly the salesman I dealt with just as confused. I will say the salesman was very helpful and did everything he could to get me the same offers that were displayed on the web site. I hope somebody from Best Buy can clarify this situation for me. If you need anymore information please let me know. Thank you for your help.

Re: Financing Offer?

It takes 3-5 BUSINESS days for a moderator to get back with you. You should call (good luck) if you want a faster answer. Hopefully someone here will have a faster answer.

Re: Financing Offer?

Thanks for letting me know. I hope somebody can explain the discrepancy in the financing offers since the web site clearly shows an 18 month offer for the Razor Maxx.

Re: Financing Offer?

Individually, it appears the Kindle 3G touch is $149 and the Razr MAXX is $299 (before tax). Purchasing either of these separately would only let you get 6 months promotional financing, but if you bought them together on the same transaction, you would be over $429 and qualify for the 18 months financing.

The likely disconnect when you went to the store is since the Razr MAXX is only sold online, in order to activate and ship it, it would have to be done in a separate system, which would be a separate transaction.

I'm sure there's a way they can make this work for you, a community connector should be in touch after the weekend. Perhaps you can buy the Kindle and a gift card in one transaction (to get the 18 months) and then use the gift card to buy the phone. I would wait for confirmation before trying this, though.

Re: Financing Offer?

On second glance, I do see that there is an 18-month Financing promo listed next to the Razr MAXX itself. When clicking on it, it does say "on purchases 429 and up" and seems to be based on the retail price of the phone, $799. Unfortunately the price of the phone with activation would be under $429. But like I said above, you could combine the phone and kindle to get the 18 months.

Re: Financing Offer?

Thanks for reply. The salesman said he had to ring the transactions up separately, but my total purchases on both items for the day was over the $429 needed to qualify for the 18 month financing on the phone. Honestly I don't think I should be penalized because the salesman was not able to ring both items on one bill and it would been easier for me to have paid for everything once instead of two separate transactions. The impression I get from reading the offer online is that I would get the 18 month financing on the phone if I spent at least $429 storewide.

Re: Financing Offer?

You would, but due to system limitations it has to be on the same transaction. They may be able to manually change your term to 18 months, that would be the best bet.

Re: Financing Offer?

Who do I have to contact to get the transaction changed so I can qualify for the 18 month financing on the phone? I know they could not do this in the store because the salesman spent ten minutes running around with no luck.

Re: Financing Offer?

If store management turned you down, I would wait here for a community connector's assistance.
