I'm considering pre-ordering Diablo III Collector's Edition (PC) from BestBuy in preparation for it's release on May 15th, 2012, but I'm worried that my local BestBuy stores will not be hosting a midnight release. 

Is it likely that BestBuy stores will be releasing the game at midnight? I noticed they are really increasing the product advertisements for Diablo III and they've done midnight releases for Blizzard games in the past, but when I tried calling one of the stores, the clerk didn't sound like she knew what I was talking about. 

Could a BestBuy employee check into this for me?

As of currently, I don't believe we are hosting any midnight openings for Diablo III.  I will double-check on that with the business team but I'm not aware of any stores that are opening their doors the night before for it.

I guessed wrong.  I still don't have a solid answer for you but I am told they are working on organizing a midnight release for Diablo 3.  I suggest you keep an eye on the Diablo III landing page on BestBuy.com for it to update with the list of participating stores around mid-April.

I was told it depended on preorder numbers. They would make determination sometime next month. Least my local store gaming manager said that.

They just updated and added the midnight release information!

Can you tell me where you found that information? I see the spot to "Select State" and "Select City" but when I do so I see nothing on any of the cities I selected about the Diablo 3 midnight release. Is it because they just don't have one? Or am I not looking in the right place? Thanks.

It should just show the store that is going to have a release. There isn't any information on specific store pages yet.

Well, I just called the store that is listed as one that I can select and they said they're not going to be having a midnight release. Not sure why I can select the store then ;(
