Unlike entry models.... most prosumer cameras are sold initially as "body only".  Once supplies stabilize weeks and months later do the lens bundles come out.

If you want to be first on the block.... get it "body only" and bolt on what ever lens you want.

Another tip I'll share.  Whether it's an iPad or a camera.... Christmas or anytime of the year.  If you know what you want... look around to see who's taking pre-orders and put your money there.  The longer you wait, the further down the list you go.

Best Buy is a great retailer to buy many goods, especially when combined with their loyalty programs.  But when it's specialized newly announced products, there can be delays to assembling distribution.  To avoid dissappointment, keep your mind open and look around to see what's available.

Getting the 5D Mark 3 is easy where I live at camera stores. They can't get rid of the 5DM3. It's the D800 that's crazy as positive reviews come in (DxO) and it's back ordered weeks/months.  There's word in Europe where a price increase is expected on the budget Nikon camera.

Just to let you all know.. i preordered the 5d mark 3 kit w/ Lens on mark 7th and my status went to

1 item - Order in process of being fulfilled; Usually ships in 1 - 2 days.   this happend yesterday.  I'm still waiting for it to changed to shipped.  I will keep you updated

I just want to place an order for the 5D Mark III. I waited to long, I admit, but the site won't even take an order. Just to rub it in, when you hover over the Check Shipping & Availability link, it says "Available at most stores.' Of course it is not available at any store.

If someone knows a way to get an order in for the body only please let me know!

Got my order in today! I had been checking the site a few times a day to see when they would be available to order. I was waiting to purchase from Best Buy since I had some gift cards. My confirmation e-mail estimates arrival between 4/18-4/25. I'm looking forward to receiving it!
