Spoke with my local store yesterday and they did some checking for me. He was able to see there were 29 of the new 5D bodies showing arrived to the wearehouse but he could not do anything more than preorder them. He said the new 5D body/lens kit there were zero on hand and it dd not show him anything more. same thing on the prder, it was only open for preorder. Canon website has a list of available online retailers showing Best Buy has the item available and in stock at Best Buy, B&H and J&R.
I have ordered the Body/Lens combo and he checked my order.... just like my many phone calls to Best Buy customer service he says it's in process.... but listed backordered.... however it shows an estimated recieve date of arrival to my home is March 25th thru March 30th.
So, I need more information. if it is still listed as backorder but I am suppossed to recieve it by the 30th, what is going on.
I have to have this camera for a trip this weekend. If Best Buy cannot fulfill the order on time, I have to cancel and get it through another online reatailer.
Please help with the information.

I started seeing a new message but I'm not exactly sure when...all day yesterday for sure that it is 'in process, usually ships within 1-2 days' similar to what others are reporting... and that I can't cancel it....but frankly its a terribly vague message that still shows today.....so basically still have no clue.... Given the amount of money we've all put down on this beauty, I would expect some sort of automated message apprear in my inbox.... not that its because its so expensive...all products should have this...but it makes it all the more painful not knowing...
Can someone from BB please provide more clarity than you have thus far? PLEASE? Thank you

Allan (moderator) - what did you hear from the buyers and inventory people at BBY? I really do want to get this from BBY, but the fact that others are shipping the kit is frustrating.
We all know you can't make promises - but some type of information would be helpful. If you say - "we didn't get our stock of the 5D Mark III kit as expected" (speculation) - that would be at least something to share.
